The Great Taste Awards are organised by the Guild of Fine Food and are the most trusted food and drink awards. The judges blind-test in teams of three or four which comprise of chefs, buyers, food writers and retailers. The teams are balanced in terms of expertise, age and gender to ensure each product is tested fairly. In 2016, more than 400 judges came together over 49 days to award products with a 1-, 2- or 3-star rating and to give honest, straightforward and impartial feedback to the producers.

The following award was won in 2016:

Aged Leicestershire Red – achieved a 2-star rating.

Judges commented that it is a lovely looking cheese with a good, subtle flavour and a long smooth finish.  They also commented that it is deep and sweetly fudgy, full of layers of flavour and a really nice acidic sharpness. A beautifully made cheese with bags of character. The judges were really pleased to see a fine example of a traditional English cheese.
