Our business is nothing without the farmers who make up the extended Long Clawson family, all of which are based in the green pastures of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The care and attention lavished on their cows produces rich, creamy milk and ensures our high-quality cheese is 100% British.
Many of the 43 local farms that supply our milk have been doing so for generations: a testament to the strength of their relationship with the Dairy. The majority are members of the Long Clawson co-operative and therefore have their own say in how we run the business, in keeping with the tradition that began in 1911 with our 12 founding farmers.
Our ethos is one of sustainability. We never lose sight of our responsibility to deliver returns to our farmers, ensuring long-term success for this and future generations of farmers in the Vale of Belvoir. As such, we continue to invest in facilities and in our people to foster growth.
All of our farms are members of the Red Tractor Farm Assurance Scheme, demonstrating their individual commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection.
In turn, Long Clawson Dairy manages its own impact on the environment with a programme of works to reduce, recycle and reuse resources across the business.
