Long Clawson Dairy Ltd is a world-renowned producer of Specialty cheeses situated in the Vale of Belvoir, in rural Leicestershire. Employing 380 staff working across two sites, the company is a fast growing, award winning manufacture of Stilton® and Specialty cheeses, priding itself on successfully balancing innovation with tradition.

A vacancy has arisen for a QA Operative to join the Technical team. You will someone who is used to working in a fast-moving multi-disciplined role.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Carrying out verification activities i.e. paperwork/ environmental swabbing/sampling against pre- determined schedules.
  • Logging samples onto Nav and ERP systems.
  • Releasing of products and ingredients on the Nav system and taking necessary actions in the event of any OOS results.
  • Liaising with raw material suppliers in the event on any non- conforming ingredients and reporting of all issues to QA Supervisor.
  • Conducting regular GMP audits with operational teams and help promote a positive Food Safety Culture amongst all staff.
  • Complete internal and external product traces
  • Assist in customer complaint investigations.
  • Conduct glass and Perspex/light /fabrication and maintenance audits to defined schedule.
  • Assist on any internal investigations i.e., foreign body finds/incidents/ process issues and assist in defining and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Accompany pest contractors around site during routine and QA visits and take active involvement in pest management around site.
  • Conduct shelf- life evaluation of finished product throughout life including End of life organoleptic assessment and aw/ph testing.
  • Complete calibration of manual thermometers on site against pre- determined schedules
  • Preparation of date coding sheets.
  • Undertake training in metal detection/quality checks
  • Participate in meetings to actively seek to develop QA function on site and effect continuous improvement within the department.
