Reporting to the Packing Shift Manager, the Front Line Manager will be responsible for the total shift Management of their departmental area ensuring that the department meets all the shift targets set. The Front Line Manager will ensure team leaders, staff and activities within the department are managed efficiently to carry out their allocated duties to the correct standard/specification and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the Team Leaders prepare the department, equipment and staff, to be ready and available in advance, for the start of each shift and all associated change over’s.
  • Responsible for overseeing KPI’s against operational objectives.
  • Ensures that the department complies with Clawson standards as well as local standards, Health & safety requirements, policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for ensuring all data information is accurate and completed on time
  • Respectfully challenge personnel and process inefficiencies to improve performance.
  • Deputise for Shift manager during their absence and manage visitors/contractors as and when required.
  • Involve the team in the achievement of set targets and work towards reducing wage costs and improving waste management.
  • Ensure the control, plan and mobilisation of employees across all production/packing areas, under the direction of the shift manager.
  • Ensure the daily start-up and that Safety checks are maintained and accurate where applicable.
  • Ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Work with the Shift Manager to manage the effective “close out” of all none compliances raised by customer or internal audits, by implementing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Be responsible for and ensure Product quality is maintained in accordance with quality standards
  • Report problems or issues as they arise, which may impact on product quality or Production activities.

Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Proven Man-Management experience within a manufacturing industry.
  • Current Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (to be achieved within 12 months)
  • Self-motivated and proven ability to motivate staff
  • GCSE or equivalent level of education – good level of numeracy & literacy in order to carry out area reporting activities and produce written daily production requirements
  • Intermediate IT skills including Excel and Word
  • Must be able to prioritise tasks and deadlines
  • Must be able to work on own initiative
  • Ambitious, driven and passionate about making improvements which lead to visible financial results and increase factory control and ownership.
  • Adaptable/flexible to meet requirements and demands of production and seasonal fluctuations

Desirable
